Project Safe Neighborhoods/Grants Intern

Responsibilities

  • Research the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program, which funds projects and strategies that reduce gun and gang-related violence in states and territories across the nation.
  • Assist with the preparation of materials associated with the compliance of recipients and sub-recipients of federal dollars from the Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) program.
  • Participate in calls with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices in California, Oregon, and New Mexico that provide technical assistance with grants management and/or receive updates on the crime reduction strategies in each district.
  • Interpret, summarize, and develop a working knowledge of federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist with data entry and performance metrics.
  • Assist in correspondence with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices.
  • Assist with web design, drafting memos to the Grants Compliance Specialist, and more.

Qualifications

  • Background or interest in juvenile justice reform, criminal justice reform, law enforcement, public administration, gun violence prevention, human trafficking advocacy, domestic violence advocacy, and other related issues and policy.
  • Good research, data management, and statistical analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
