Prominent Washington D.C family is seeking to hire an energetic, flexible, and motivated Private Chef to manage all daily culinary needs out of their residence. This is a full-time, five-day flex schedule, from Tuesday to Saturday, roughly 12:00pm to 9:00pm with overriding flexibility for additional days and longer hours as needed upon request. The candidate will prepare and cook Dinner for the family on a daily basis as well as light lunches for Mr. This position will require the willingness to Live-In in the family’s Nantucket residence from mid-June to the end of August. Private accommodations will be provided. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in preparing and serving family-style healthy, fresh, light, and seasonal meals with various options. This position will require exceptional organizational skills and time management as the family will often have different eating schedules. This position requires working in an environment with pets, must love cats and dogs!

 

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating fresh, seasonal, light farm-to-table cuisine on a five-day basis
  • Overseeing all elements of hospitality, food and beverage service within the residence
  • Handling all aspects of grocery shopping and supply procurement; managing kitchen inventory
  • Managing all food-related vendor and contractor relationships
  • Upholding the highest sanitary and cleanliness standard for the kitchen
  • Incorporating fresh, organic, healthy ingredients into every meal
  • Ongoing sourcing of healthy food techniques, local farm to table purveyors
  •  Additional duties and responsibilities as needed and upon request


Requirements:

  • Strong command of English language; outstanding writing and verbal skills
  • Minimum 3 + years of experience working as a Private Chef for a Private Family
  • Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
  • Culinary Arts degree from accredited school PREFERRED
  • Strong fresh, seasonal and health-conscious cooking skills; ability to replicate any dish a strong plus
  • Must be hygienically conscious; know how to properly handle food (i.e., no cross contaminating etc.)
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in both Mac and PC systems, including Office, Internet and email
  • Polished, poised and professional in both mindset and manor; use of utmost discretion at all times
  • Flexibility in scheduling; willingness to work long hours and overtime as needed
  • MUST be comfortable working around dogs and cats
  • Valid Driver’s License; confident driver with zero points on license
  •  Valid US Passport willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Legally able to work within the United States

Salary $90,000 - $110,000 per year; possible discretionary, performance based annual bonus
