This is an entry to mid-level position within the organization, with some direct industry or relevant functional experience in another industry required. You should be organized, detail-oriented and highly self-motivated. Based in Raleigh/Durham North Carolina, or at one of our other offices or at a remote location as applicable. The candidate will oversee the project interconnection process for multiple renewable energy development projects in Ecoplexus’ project pipeline and provide related interconnection management support to the development, design, construction and finance teams. This position will be part of the North American Interconnection and Transmission Planning team and work directly with Regional Development Leaders while reporting to Project Development Management in a matrix structure.
Job Responsibilities are as follows:
Oversee and coordinate the entirety of the interconnection study process for the Company’s large scale renewable energy projects
Interface with Ecoplexus’ development, origination, design, construction and finance teams regarding the interconnection aspects of multiple projects.
Interface with counterparts from the utility companies, transmission providers / operators.
Participate in the site selection/screening process by coordinating inputs on available interconnection capacity, analysis of interconnection queues, review of transmission providers’ interconnection tariffs / business practices and related tasks.
Prepare utility interconnection applications including supporting documentation while interacting with the utility through the study process.
Oversee Ecoplexus’ participation in the interconnection study process, including review of transmission providers’ interconnection studies. Integrate the feedback from internal staff and external consultants accordingly.
With the help of internal and external resources, oversee the negotiation of interconnection agreements.
Interface with Ecoplexus’ design and construction team on matters related to the interconnection studies and agreements.
Provide support to Regional Development Directors in carrying out interconnect and engineering tasks.
Collaboration with regional business development leads during planning stages to assure execution according to schedule.
Provide support to business development efforts when requested in interfacing with customers and other stakeholders.
Provide support to the project finance team and support due diligence efforts as needed during project closings.
Develop, review and report project schedules, cost estimates, budgets, scopes of work, and quotes from utilities and vendors.
Create, deliver, and maintain project documentation.
Manage and coordinate external resources such as electrical engineers, consultants and other specialized professionals as related to the interconnection study process.
Work collaboratively with other internal teams when necessary on project execution and process development.
Attend technical training and share learnings.
Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and results.
A degree in electrical engineering is preferred, renewable energy or project management is possible.
2-4 years of experience in the renewable energy or utility field working with project interconnections or transmission planning, or as an electrical engineer for an engineering firm or in an industrial or process based company.
Experience with process and project management, coordination of internal and/or external stakeholders
Understanding of utility distribution and transmission interconnections is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the Google suite of products (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)
Experience with Gantt charts (MS Project or equivalent)
Experience with Google Earth, GIS and/or AutoCAD is a benefit (or equivalent)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of the National Electric Code
Driven, assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player.
Previous experience managing projects at early design stages is preferred.
2-4 years of related work experience

Required license or certification:
None. Engineer-in-training (EIT) and/or project management certifications are a plus. Interested in those with a goal to get the PE in electrical engineering in time.
