Career Opportunity Senior Metallurgist, Monroe, North Carolina

 

Colfax Fluid Handling in located in Monroe, North Carolina is searching for a Senior Metallurgist to join its team. Colfax Fluid Handling is a $700 million growing and profitable business. The Monroe facility houses Colfax Fluid Handling’s Global and North American corporate offices as well as one of our most dynamic manufacturing facilities. Reporting to the head of Advanced Surfaces and Materials, the Metallurgist is responsible for all aspects of the use and treatment of parts manufactured or purchased in the Monroe, NC and Columbia, KY facilities.  This will include welding, coatings and heat treat processes.  This will not be limited to metals, but may include materials of any kind as required for the design and manufacturing processes.

Key Accountabilities:

  • < >

    Control WELD/NDT requirements for foundry casting repairs

    • Maintain customer submittal & approval logs for Weld, NDT, and special processes

  • Weld Procedures & Performance Qualifications

  • Repairs (all SIR's involving weld require Metallurgist approval)

  • Support for weld, production, Quality & field service

    Work with foundry suppliers to resolve problems

  • Work with manufacturing on casting repairs

  • < >

    Create and Maintain Engineering Material Specifications

  • Create and Maintain Engineering Process Specifications

  • Create, Maintain, Review Coatings Requirements per Customer Orders

  • Production Support

    • Support Internal and External Heat Treat Processes and Requirements

  • Sales Support

    • Approval Logs for Customer Submittal – Weld, NDT and Special Processes

    • Technical Justifications of Material and Processes

    • Maintaining Cross References for Equivalent materials for domestic and foreign material standards

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Education Requirements

  • B.S. Metallurgical or Material Engineering required

  • M.S. Metallurgy preferred

  • Technical Requirements

  • Strong Knowledge of materials and processes used in manufacturing required

  • Strong Manufacturing Background with company that produces metal components required

  • Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years relevant experience required, 5-8 years strongly preferred.

  • Background in Welding, Castings, and Heat treatments processes required

  • Involved with Military certifications and audits required

  • Manufacturing and Machining processes required

  • Pump Knowledge (preferred)

  • Mobility & Travel Requirements

  • 5% Travel – Global
