Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Emerson Automation Solutions Power & Water Solutions Simulation Projects group is looking for a candidate to join our diverse team of simulation engineers and support delivery of operator training simulators to power plants in the US.  In this position the candidate would be expected to design, build and maintain simulation models for fossil fueled power plants using Ovation Embedded Simulation software to accurately model all plant processes.  Experience in the power industry or with simulation model software like MATLAB is preferred.  Your work would be performed inside the United States and would involve supporting and interacting within our global engineering modeling teams.  Expected work includes but is not limited to the following: 
  • Applying knowledge obtained by receiving an engineering degree to understand the Power Plant industry, control automation and/or simulation technology
  • Ability to comprehend power plant controls logic and operations based on real world evidence
  • Ability to gather technical equipment specifications from vendor manuals and diagrams
  • Ability to comprehend new simulation software and utilize it to create simulation solutions for all Power Plant equipment and processes
  • Ability to interpret these design inputs properly and create mathematical models that accurately calculate plant conditions meeting high fidelity industry standards
  • Ability to prepare documentation that details design decisions and describes the simulated systems in simplified terms for ease of understanding

 Having a working knowledge of programming (C#, C++, Simulink, Fortran, etc.) and an understanding of power plant process and simulation technologies is preferred.  The successful candidate will be a quick learner and able to demonstrate the ability to adapt to new technologies, as well as having strong communication, computer and interpersonal skills. The position requires 25% travel.
