SSL is seeking a Director, FP&A to lead our Finance Operations team and help us support the next stage of our growth. This is a leadership role positioned to drive the next generation of financial and operational business insights at SSL. Reporting to the CFO, this position will be a thought leader and will manage and oversee day-to-day financial planning processes, including annual planning, monthly reporting and key business analysis. The Finance Operations team works closely with the CFO and senior executives to plan the business and allocate budget and resources to the company's satellite programs and other strategic R&D initiatives.





Key Responsibilities Include:




  • Lead the Finance Operations FP&A team, overseeing all COGS and Opex groups for spend forecasting, capex analysis, cost analysis, satellite program resource planning, and business reporting by building deep business partner relationships across the organization to drive cost savings and efficiency improvements.

  • Lead the weekly cash flow forecast process, coordinating with groups across the business and within Finance to ensure an accurate and timely weekly, quarterly, and annual forecast

  • Set a vision for executive level metrics and systems support that ensures we can track, measure and optimize our business, at scale, across our product, sales and finance teams.

  • Drive a unified, comprehensive process for forecasting and reporting that ensures product line profitability and drives accountability down to departmental owners. Ensure productivity impacts are aligned and incorporated into our executive reporting and operational dashboards.

Director, FP&A, Finance Operations


SSL is seeking a Director, FP&A to lead our Finance Operations team and help us support the next stage of our growth.   • Lead the weekly cash flow forecast process, coordinating with groups across the business and within Finance to ensure an accurate and timely weekly, quarterly, and annual forecast

  • Set a vision for executive level metrics and systems support that ensures we can track, measure and optimize our business, at scale, across our product, sales and finance teams.

  • Drive a unified, comprehensive process for forecasting and reporting that ensures product line profitability and drives accountability down to departmental owners. Ensure productivity impacts are aligned and incorporated into our executive reporting and operational dashboards.

  • Translate and interpret our financial results into operational recommendations to improve and accelerate the business.

  • Partner with Sales Finance on our go-to-market sales model including coordinating on monthly sales forecasts and providing accurate product cost roll-up information in support of proposals and quotes going out to customers.

  • Partner with our Business Operations team to drive an efficient, effective and comprehensive process for annual budget planning that links to company strategic objectives and evolves our understanding of budget accountability as we enhance our matrix operating model.

  • Provide financial modeling, financial analysis and valuation support for acquisitions and other ad-hoc financial projects.

  • Supervise and manage the performance of a nine-person Finance Operations team, including 4 direct reports, and ensure cross-department collaboration to best optimize and accelerate the business.


Requirements

  • BS in Finance/Accounting/Economics, MBA or CPA preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years of overall experience, with at least 4 years in a Senior Manager or Director of FP&A role and a proven track record of increased responsibility

  • Superior analytical skills, combined with excellent business judgment and strong ability to clearly and concisely communicate with senior management level personnel

  • Very strong system skills including Oracle, SAP, Anaplan, BPC (OutlookSoft), Excel and other MS office applications

  • Proven people and program management skills

  • Demonstrated track record in building and developing superior finance teams with best practices in a high-growth, high change environment.

  • Demonstrated outstanding financial leadership skills and expertise with an emphasis on translating financial insights into operational recommendations.
