Job Description

This position will be responsible for assisting Solar employees, retirees and covered dependents with the administration of Caterpillar's healthcare programs including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. This will be a second tier level of support for members if the primary level of support from Caterpillar or health insurance providers has not been able to resolve a specific issue. This position will be proactive in providing customer service by listening to the member, taking ownership of solutions and, if necessary, accurately identify the need to involve leadership in order to resolve concerns. Individual must be able to demonstrate high level of confidentiality and discretion while working with HIPPA sensitive information.

The Benefits Representative will also develop, update and deliver member communication/information, identifying appropriate topics to convey, drafting the communication in various media (email, PowerPoint, newsletter, benefits intranet, fliers) and delivering to employee audiences at different levels and in different locations. This can include one-on-one meetings, group employee meetings, remote field webinars and recorded presentations.

Job duties include coordinating programs, reviewing data, inputting data, maintaining accurate records, arranging and conducting meetings, analyzing information, following and improving various HR processes. Applies knowledge of policy and law to execute duties properly.

- Responsible for interacting and responding to members, payers and providers inquiries
- Assisting members with resolving issues that have been escalated for second tier support
- Assists with new hire orientations
- Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
- Distributes all benefit enrollment materials and determines eligibility
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquires
- Assists with the open enrollment process

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree with a minimum of 2 years professional experience in administering employee benefits.
Experience in handling Personal Health Information governed by HIPAA laws and other benefits compliance requirements.
Demonstrated experience with presentations to large audiences at different levels of the organization.
Experience collaborating on communication development.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint as part of the MS Office suit.
Experience with HRIS.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of similar work experience in administering health benefits for employees.
Experience in administering benefits for Solar Turbines and/or Caterpillar.
Experience and knowledge of the federal and state laws/regulations governing healthcare insurance.
Advanced excel skills.
Experience with PeopleSoft 9.1 or higher.
Strong attention to detail, customer service focus and proven written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to handle extremely confidential data.
Ability to communicate to differing authority levels and audiences required.
Strong organizational and analytical skills; innovative with ability to identify and solve problems.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment and to function independently, in daily assignments, with minimal higher-level direction.
The incumbent must have demonstrated experience in self-initiative, problem resolution, ability to address nonstandard issues.
