Job Description

Occupational Health Nurse staffs Solar Turbines, Harbor Drive & Kearny Mesa facilities, daily medical clinical operations including medical emergencies by directly performing clinical assessment and triage of all work related and nonoccupational illness/injury. This position primarily interfaces daily with employees, managers/supervisors, HR Representatives, Workers’ Compensation, Security, and Benefits.

Must be computer literate with familiarity in Occupational Health Services electronic medical recordkeeping systems. Medical technical functions include performing OSHA Respiratory evaluations, vision screening, EKG, audiometric technical functions using automated equipment and web-based programs that meet regulatory medical surveillance standards. Perform as drug and alcohol collector and screening technicians. Strong Occupational Health Nurse previous experience in corporate setting preferred. Keeps up-to-date on the practice changes in Occupational Health nursing. Completes individual project assignments and participates on teams to improve Occupational Health policies and processes.

Individual will work an average of 24 hours per week, 3 days per week. When needed, must perform additional time providing coverage for full-time regular nurses during vacation or illness absence.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a minimum CA Registered Nursing practice licensure, background and recent experience in Occupational Health Nursing with 3 years clinical nursing. Current CPR Certification with strong emergency response experience. OHN previous experience in a corporate setting preferred. BSN degree. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with Occupational Health systems including audiometric, spirometry, EKG, and other automated medical equipment. Phlebotomy skills required as well as experience in specimen collection.

Preferred Qualifications

OHN previous experience in a corporate setting preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft or the equivalent software is a plus. Exposure to 6 Sigma methods and change management are a plus. Strong communication skills are necessary. Must demonstrate strong listening skills and respect for all clients. Ability to collaborate with a variety of people and function well in a team-oriented environment.
