Senior Business Analyst - Strategies for Improving the US Payments System (SIPS)

Job Summary :

The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is the host bank of the Federal Reserve System's Strategies for Improving the U.S. Payments System (SIPS) office. The SIPS group works with the payments industry to advance the goals of a faster and more secure payments system.

We are currently hiring for a Senior Business Analyst to work alongside SIPS leadership in supporting the Secure Payments Team. This person will assist with and work on initiatives intended to reduce fraud, mitigate risk and advance the safety, security and resiliency of the U.S. payments system. The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with SIPS leadership as well as internal and external stakeholders to help advance, communicate and drive adoption of SIPS and Secure Payments initiatives,

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Plans, directs and coordinates project activities and resources to ensure project goals and milestones are completed on time, within budget and with optimum quality; provides direction, prioritization, and conflict resolution in managing project teams to accomplish project objectives
  • Develops, maintains, manipulates and analyzes spreadsheets and databases for department, extracting data from other systems as necessary; develops metrics to track performance plans
  • Creates briefing materials and presentations for SIPS leadership, the Bank and Federal Reserve System management ; presents to senior leadership as needed
  • Develops internal and external communications for stakeholder groups including use of innovative technologies to reach multiple audiences
  • Conducts market research, trend, return on investment, cost/benefit, and best practice analysis to develop business cases and recommendations to be presented to senior leadership; carries out changes as necessary
  • Provides direction, prioritization, and conflict resolution in managing project teams to accomplish project objectives

Education and Experience :
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of direct work experience
  • Experience in project management methodologies, certification a plus
  • Experience in performing specialized business analysis and project assessment
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data, reporting and presenting financial /market data and coordinating efforts of a project team
  • Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders including executives, technical resources, internal communications and public relations

Knowledge and Skills :
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Independent thinking and decision making abilities
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Knowledge of Bank operation preferred
  • Knowledge of the payments industry preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technical applications
  • Possesses and applies strong internet navigation and research skills

  • MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio), Adobe Connect, ThinkTank, Live Meeting

    Other Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • A priority - High reliance on interpersonal communication skills as the person will work with regulatory leaders, senior executives in the payments industry and related fields

  • Strong ability to synthesize input, and identify themes

  • Understand project management methodologies and how to advance work/project

  • Payments Industry (credit/debit card payments, wire, check, ACH) and/or Information Security
