Manufacturing Process Engineer, CTSC

Connecticut Stators and Components (CTSC) is a repair business located on Pratt & Whitney's (P&W's) East Hartford campus. The business specializes in rotating parts and major cases and serves Pratt & Whitney, and a variety of global customers.

The Process Engineer will be part of the CTSC engineering team reporting up to the Engineering Manager. The process engineer will have direct responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of repair processes within a cell(s). The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Providing daily shop floor technical support and all technical data required for the product repair including process planning and related shop work instructions,
  • Operational engineering support to implement technologies and processes,
    Leading process development and certification for new repairs and new technologies,
    Performing root cause investigations and implementing operational corrective and preventative actions to solve technical, process and/or issues related to quality, operations or processes,
    Supporting the ACE journey to continuously improve the quality and the customer required deliverables,
  • Actively working ACE initiatives to identify and implement turn-time reductions, cost savings and EH&S enhancements,
  • Creating and managing work instructions that provide engineering requirements within the cell operations,
  • Actively ensuring engineering authority (EA) is obtained by relevant sources by working with all of the relevant stakeholders in the process,Leading teams to support department and/or business initiatives.


*Education / Certifications

  • A Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or equivalent is required.
  • A Master's degree in the related field is preferred.

*Experience / Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in process engineering, manufacturing or equivalent field and experience with manufacturing/operations/assembly processes such as turning, milling, grinding, brazing, and heat treat.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work with all levels of management, personnel and customers, and have a foundation to drive operations, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is a must.
    Candidates must be able to exhibit some proficiency in leadership skills, analytical thinking and customer focus.
    Familiarization with P&W Engine Manuals, Standard Practice Manuals and Technical Orders or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and ACE is required for internal candidates. Experience with continuous improvement and automation of equipment and process concepts for external candidates is highly desirable. Some knowledge of military and commercial products / parts or source demonstration is a plus.
