Machine Operator II - 12 HR Days

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Safely operate and maintain production equipment to run efficient at high quality levels. Follow safety procedure and practices. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. Set-up, adjust, troubleshoot and operate production equipment. Conduct basic quality inspection of work in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Ensure efficient production of high quality material.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Safety oriented.

  • Operate and maintain equipment properly
  • Set-up, adjust, troubleshoot and ensure product quality. Basic inspection of product and labels.

  • Collaborate with the team to solve equipment problems being a liaison to Engineering.

  • Communicate with the technical team (Supervisor, Technician, Engineering).

  • Handle hazardous materials appropriately learning the proper and safe process and implementing it at all times.

  • Interact with computer controlled equipment and processes requiring basic computer skills.

  • Support equipment upgrades and installation.

  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.

    DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Setup, adjust and troubleshoot critical manufacturing equipment (mechanical, pneumatics, vision, robotics).

  • Ability to operate automated manufacturing equipment with PC based controls.

  • Flexibility to train others with new technology.

  • Must be able to work overtime, weekend, and 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.

  • Properly complete manufacturing documentation.

  • Cross- train to work in several areas.

  • Other duties assigned with or without accommodation.

  • Maintain 5S throughout the team (Autonomous Maintenance, Lean)

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

  • Reports to Supervisor or Superintendent when applicable.

  • Work with technicians and maintenance team as applicable.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Education (or equivalent)

  • Technical Trade School desirable

    Length of necessary/required experience:

  • Entry level, 2-5 years machine experience a plus

    Other qualifications:

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Work well in a "Team" environment

  • Understanding 5S and Lean a plus

  • Ability to solve problems

    Skills:

  • Ability to work with computers and hand tools, mechanical aptitude, and understanding of quality specifications.

    INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY:

  • Work efficiently and with minimal supervision.

  • Compassion and desire to learn new skills and continuously improve.

    DECISION MAKING:

  • The Technical Production Lead will use his/her discretion when deciding to shut down a malfunctioning machine.

  • Understand product quality and make quality minded decisions.

  • Take responsibility for personal actions and actions of the team.

    COST OF MISTAKES:

  • Mistakes processing material as intended usually results in scrapped materials and extensive labor to rework products resulting in lost profits.

    QUALITY:

  • Quality is directly related to the level of involvement.

  • Production operators are expected to be fully involved in processing material according to SOP and in all other departmental activities.

  • Lack of attention to detail can lead to defective product shipped to customer.

  • Our goal is to achieve total customer satisfaction by fulfilling our external and internal customers' expectations. We achieve this by ensuring our Quality Management System is effectively maintained and complies with standards, regulations and established quality objectives

    SAFETY:

  • The Technical Production Lead is responsible for his/her own, as well as his/her team member's safety.

  • Safety within the environment is taken very serious and is a high priority.

  • All accidents are preventable

    RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS:

  • Technical Production Lead individuals are responsible for seeing that their team members work together to operate in a safe and orderly manner.

  • Responsible for verifying that all aspects of operation are smooth and assure the process is within SOP specifications.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Technical Production Lead will be working with chemicals in a clean room environment.
