The Medtronic Connect Digital Services platform is Medtronic's next generation Digital Commerce platform, that offers Online Ordering and related services such as Inventory Management and Product Training to our patients, customers, distributors, and service providers. We are looking for a Principal IT Technologist, focusing on .NET/ASP.NET/business logic and integration services who can lead design, development, and testing efforts within this technology stack - within a sub domain of the Medtronic Connect Digital platform. The Principal IT Technologist will:
- provide architecture leadership and direction for the .NET/ASP.NET business logic and integrations services
- portion within their sub domain of the Digital Platform
- ensure the technical team within the sub domain is building capabilities aligned to the planned architecture
- provide guidance, direction, and governance within the sub domain team
- establish and communicate architecture and design tenets for the technology stack and ensure compliance within the sub domain team

The follow applies within a given sub domain of the digital platform
Application architectural design of.NET and business logic components on the platform
Lead, coach, and mentor other developers on the platform
Code review of contributing developers on the platform to ensure quality and consistency in standards
Review and approval of test automation scripts within the domain
Performance tuning and participation in performance testing capabilities within the domain
Draft and review architecture related items with Core Platform architects
Review security related items with Global Security
Collaborate with BAs on functional design related issues / questions
Participate in Functional testing, Integration testing, and User Acceptance Testing for technical support
Provide input on estimates for new demand
Participate in global governance sessions that ensure the regional IT teams are developing code and sharing reusable components efficiently
Exhibit self-motivation, enthusiasm, and positive attitude while performing as a team player across the region and global teams.
Help set up a co- development environment to enable Global IT team and regional IT team to work together and develop solutions
Make decisions on what to build, what to adapt and what to customize in collaboration with global IT and regional IT teams
Design and Develop code across all projects
Strong understanding of development process, hands on development experience and expertise
Translate business requirements and source system understanding into code
Work with remote projects teams using the Agile project methodology for development activities
Drive system architecture and coding standards
Collaborate with other developers on the team to resolve architectural issues/technical blocks
Ensure coding standards are followed at all times
Participate in code reviews
Create technical documentation for all new or modified components
Lead unit testing and fixes and write scripts for validation
Troubleshoot and carry out/ assist with root cause analysis
Communicate with technical and non-technical users
Strong sense of accountability
Strong analytical thinking, communication and problem solving skills
Knowledge of Digital commerce
Understanding of CRM, ERP systems and supply chain processes is preferred
The candidate should be flexible on working hours
The candidate should be self-starter and self-learner
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
GED/High School Graduate
Years of Experience
15+ years of IT experience with a GED/High School Graduate
11+ years of IT experience with Associate Degree
7+ years of IT experience with a Bachelors
5+ years of IT Experience with a Masters
Specialized Skills or Experience:
Development and Frameworks experience (e.g. Enterprise Service Bus , Message Queue Technologies)
Nice to Have:
.NET and ASP.NET design and development experience
No SQL database experience (e.g. Couchbase)
Search Engine Tools experience (e.g. Elasticsearch)
Dev Ops Tools experience (e.g. Team City, Octopus, GitLab (or other source code management)
3+ year of experience providing work direction and leadership to people and teams
Monitoring and Application performance tools (e.g. Elk, BugSnag, New Relic or Dynatrace)5+ years of relevant experience in job offered or a similar role in leadership, facilitation, and communication
Experience with organizing and communicating with global teams
Proven communication skills
Demonstrated experience in executive-level communications and messaging
Experience facilitating large disparate groups
Experience working with Technical team members
Previous working experiences within Life Sciences environment
Good understanding of SDLC and/or Agile project management methodology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to work in a high pace environment and with aggressive project schedules
Ability to develop effective relationships with business users, technical staff and executive management
Ability to combine strategic thinking with operational activities
Fast learner with the ability to quickly master new applications and develop domain knowledge
Strong client facing and presentation skills
Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a high-energy and fast-paced environment
Passion to contribute to high-quality services and solutions
Team player comfortable to work in an international and culturally diverse team
Willing and able to travel on occasion (5-10%)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with ambiguity
