Responsibilities include the successful and profitable operation of all aspects of the course and its associated facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, managing the day to day Golf and Club experience.Job Description:This Position Supervises:* Golf Course Superintendent -Assistant Professional(s)* Golf Shop Service Staff -Outside Service Staff* Beverage Cart AttendantESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONBASIC FUNCTION: Manages the day-to-day operations of the golf department to include Golf Shop, practice area, starter area, cart staging area, locker rooms and clubhouse area directly related to the golf operation at Stonewall Resort. This includes; golfer registration, advance starting times for individuals and day/resort groups, cart (outside) staff functions, ranger/starter staff functions and golf event management. As the Director of Golf, he/she must lead the other staff members by example by showing a high level of professionalism, honesty, integrity and fairness.Director of Golf Operations Duties and Responsibilities:Oversees the management and performance of the golf shop, golf range, golf services areas, golf cart operation and applicable department operations and services to assure high standards and total customer satisfaction.Establishes and enforces the golf shop operations policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and resources.Oversee the development of operating procedures and training manuals for the golf operationOversees merchandising for the golf shop.Oversees the supervision of the maintenance of golf carts and golf operations personnel.Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.Strives to improve service performance.Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.Approves and Orders supplies associated with golf activities.Develops and oversees an innovative tournament schedule and golf activities program that services all customer segments.Attends weekly Leadership Meetings and schedules regular staff meetings focused on customers, operations, revenue growth, cost containment and continuous improvement.Maintains a close working relationship with the golf course staff and other Department heads to ensure an effective, fluid inter-departmental operation.Occasionally plays golf with members of all skill levels to encourage enthusiasm.Responsible for the overall day to day service levels for the Golf Clubhouse food and beverage outlet to include the golf shop and locker room.Responsible for financial results of the golf club, food and beverage and retail outlet.Maintaining budgeted beverage cost, wage cost, and supporting the sales efforts to drive top-line revenue.Reviews findings from guest feedback with employees to develop appropriate corrective action.Coordinates plans with the Food and Beverage Director for all food and beverage needs, on course food and beverage needs, banquets, outside events and catering for all golf functions.Prepares annual and monthly budgets for golf operations.Responsible for the Golf Shop Retail operation to include buying product, managing inventory levels, markdowns, and promotions.Builds relationships with key resort teams to include Food and Beverage, Culinary, Restaurant Reservations, & Banquets.Attends regular Food and Beverage leadership meetings to ensure proper communication and teamwork.Addresses guest, member and member guest complaints and resolves problems immediately.Establishes guidelines for Golf Operations for employees to easily understand expectations and parameters.Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.Ensures employees are treated fairly and equitably.Celebrates successes and publicly recognizing the contributions of the team member.Act as a role model to all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.Performs other duties as assigned or required by the management.Carry out the policies and procedures of Benchmark Hospitality at Stonewall Resort while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and teamwork atmosphere as per standards of service.Follow safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all Stonewall staff members.Maintaining uniform and grooming standards as outlined in employee handbook for all Golf Operations staff members.Strong customer service orientation and skills. Will be required to solve guest/customer dissatisfaction situations in a positive manner for guests and SWR. Has the authority to compensate for deficiencies with golf related services/products.Schedules of Golf Operations staff to include making required adjustments as activity levels change during the week of a schedule.Always presenting Stonewall Resort in a positive manner in dealing with the general public.Schedule group golf events on the current year tee sheets with Sales and Conference Services staff members of Stonewall Resort.Must be well-mannered, display a helpful attitude at tall times, greet guests when encountered, show appreciation to the guest for being at the resort, show a willingness to help guests and employees at all times.Must be familiar with and understand uses of Banquet Event Orders and Meeting Plans prepared by Stonewall Resort Conference Service staff members. Will be required at times to assist guests with questions related to such documents such as location, time and pricing of events held throughout the Resort property.Supervise Golf Operations staff members in proper opening and closing procedures on a daily basis. Includes communication with golf maintenance superintendent and assistant superintendent on daily basis in regard to golf course maintenance activities. Morning review and shift change review with cart staff members and starter/ranger staff members in regards to tee sheet and golf group activity for the day.Provides assistance in other job classifications as deemed necessary by the General Manager.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Business Administration or Hospitality Diploma with relevant experience is golf club management.* Class "A" PGA Member or PGA Associate that has completed Level 2 of PGM Program* Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in a Golf Management role at a Resort/property of similar size and quality or Daily Fee Golf Operation* Clear concise written, verbal and telephone communication skills* Possess working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with golf shop point of sales systems and online starting time system.* Strong customer service orientation and skills* Great attention to detail and follow up* Self-motivated* Willingness to learn from Resort Team* Willingness to teach Golf Operations Team* Works well in a "Team Environment" where everyone does everything* Well-groomed and dressedPosition will be required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
