ABOUT THE ECONOMIC CONSULTING PRACTICE:

The Economic Consulting segment of FTI Consulting provides law firms, corporations and government agencies with sophisticated and comprehensible analyses of complex economic issues to assist them in understanding the issues and opportunities they face. We are involved in a wide range of engagements related to economics, finance and accounting. We provide critical insight and expert testimony in legal and regulatory proceedings. We also have deep expertise in healthcare litigation consulting, data analytics, data visualization, neural network analysis and Amazon Redshift cloud computing.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for an individual with considerable experience in managing and analyzing large, complex data sets used in dispute advisory work. Particularly, the ideal candidate will be able to identify and initiate analytical tasks and present data visualizations without much direction. We have a strong preference for an individual with experience in managing and analyzing healthcare claims data. The data scientist should be able to use a vast array of analytical tools and skills (such as Python, R and/or SQL) to generate clear and concise work product for client presentations and expert reports.

In additional to data analytics and visualization, we are looking for someone who is interested in server management and large data storage. We expect the candidate to be able to manage and guide the team's computing challenges. The data scientist should be passionate about the intersection of technology and social-scientific research, and be up to date on the latest technology used in data analysis.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Statistical and econometric analysis of large datasets

  • Establishing optimized procedures for data collection and storage

  • Assist in preparation of expert reports in Federal and State courts

  • Uploading and processing of large datasets

  • Assist with maintaining the team's server - includes updating the latest versions of various software used and ensuring the server runs smoothly and efficiently for the multiple users in our group



    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or Statistics. Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in data analytics, dispute advisory consulting or healthcare related business required.

    PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Proficient in Python

  • Proficient in using a variety of tools to handle large data, such as SQL Server and/or Hadoop

  • Familiarity with an object-oriented programming language, such as Java or C
  • Proficient in statistical or econometric software programs such as R, Stata, and/or SAS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services is preferred

  • Ability to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations
  • Ability to develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems

  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, and presentation skills
