SQA Engineer I - Position Summary



Designs, develops, implements and maintain test automation solutions. Executes automated test cases according to test execution schedule. Works closely with the development engineering team and NCA project managers to ensure a thorough understanding of the overall project including business requirements, functional requirements and technical specifications to ensure proper test requirements are defined and built into the overall testing solution. with test team to identify tests to automate and ensure a thorough understanding of the function, test purpose, and expected results.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Develops, codes and programs automated testing systems using commercial tools, scripts and data sets.
  • Designs, implements, executes, and debugs automated test cases and scripts.
  • Works closely with test team to identify automation candidates and ensures a thorough understanding of the function, test purpose, and expected results. Automates manual test cases, uncovers and researches bugs or defects within cases.
  • Executes automated test cases according to test event schedule.
  • Works directly with NCA application development teams to understand project concept, objectives and approach of software development projects.
  • Documents and communicates issues or developments identified.
  • Ensures activities follow the change management process and are entered and tracked through the change management software or procedure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor`s degree in computer or technical sciences, or 3-5 years of related work experience

Knowledge and Skills
  • Prior experience in Quality Assurance Engineer methodologies and practices.
  • Working knowledge of the Software development Life Cycle and the importance of the QA function within the framework.
  • Solid technical knowledge of computer hardware and software, operating systems, browsers, Internet navigation, and downloading/installing software ie SQL, Oracle, business objects, web technologies, authentication or security technologies.
  • Working knowledge of automated test tools including but not limited to HPQC.
  • Experience with implementing and auditing automated test methodology and QA standards.
  • Strong analytical, multitasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform independent research and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly matrix or virtual organization.


Physical Demands and General Working Conditions
  • Employees typically sit most of the day, work with a computer and may answer/respond to phone calls. Physical movement consists of walking for meetings, breaks, etc. Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds on a limited basis is required. Employees may be required to travel by car/air.


SQA Engineer II - Position Summary



Designs, develops, implements and maintains test automation solutions. Executes automated test cases according to test execution schedule. Works closely with test team to identify test to automate and ensure a thorough understanding of the function, test purpose, and expected results.

  • Designs, implements, executes and debugs complex automated cases and scripts.
  • Works closely with test team to identify automation candidates and ensure a thorough understanding of the function, test purpose, and expected results. Automates manual test cases, uncover and researches bugs or defects within cases.
  • Participates in the selection, configuration and integration of software test tools to ensure that test automation is leveraged as much as feasible.
  • Participates in development of test automation strategy, and design of automation architecture and standards.
  • Executes automated test cases according to test execution schedule.
  • Documents and communicates significant issues or developments and provides recommended process improvements or mitigation strategies to management.
  • Mentors junior teams members.
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedures related to the storing and management of automated script artifacts.
  • Ensures activities follow the change management process and are entered and
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor`s degree in computer sciences or technical, or 5 -7 years of related work experience


Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of the Software development Life Cycle and the importance of the QA function within the framework.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of computer hardware and software, operating systems, browsers, Internet navigation, and downloading/installing software ie SQL, Oracle, business objects, web technologies, authentication or security technologies.
  • Strong practical knowledge of automated test tools including but not limited to HPQC.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and auditing automated test methodology and QA standards.
  • Strong system and process analysis skills with demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly matrix or virtual organization.

Works closely with test team to identify tests to automate and ensure a thorough understanding of the function, test purpose, and expected results. Actively seeks opportunities to enhance the NCA automation test portfolio by presenting or recommending current industry trends.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Develops, codes and programs automated testing systems using commercial tools, scripts and data sets.
  • Designs, implements, executes and debugs highly complex automated test cases and scripts.
  • Actively collaborates with test team to identify automation candidates and ensure a thorough understanding of the function, test purpose, and expected results. Automates manual test cases, uncovers and researches bugs or defects within cases.
  • Leads or participates in the selection, configuration and integration of software test tools to ensure that test automation is leveraged as much as feasible.
  • Develops test automation strategy and design of automation architecture and standards
  • Ensures automated test cases are executed according to test event schedule.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance design activities and provides recommended process improvements or mitigation strategies to management.
  • Ensures team members are following defined standards and are meeting expected quality levels. Stays current with programming/coding practices and provides guidance on industry best practices.
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedures related to the storing and management of automated script artifacts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.

Education and Experience
