Position Summary:
Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the PTA directs, administers and modifies physical therapy patient care programs upon assignment after evaluation by the Physical Therapist.  Performs administrative duties and participates in department Performance Improvement, Infection Control, Safety and Education programs as directed.  The staff Physical Therapist Assistant may be assigned to orient staff and students and to assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.

Qualifications

Minimum:

Education

  • Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association training program or Equivalent Training
  • Or experience as specified by the Physical Therapy Board of California.
Experience                                      

  • Experience in acute care, skilled nursing facility, outpatient, and/or subacute care settings preferred
Training                                           

  • None required
License / Certification                      
  • Current California Physical Therapy Assistant License
  • Current BLS required
  • Environmental Orientation due within 30 days of hire: D00045
  • Physical Therapist Assistant Competency due within 90 days of hire U00004
Knowledge/skills/abilities  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills       
Age-Related Competencies: 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of patient’s status.  Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.
