Marketing Manager / Senior Marketing Manager


Cargill Protein is a leader at delivering primary processed and value added proteins into the Foodservice, Retail and Manufacturing market channels. It operates several food processing facilities located in the US and Canada. Our customers in Foodservice are comprised of large national restaurant chain operators, contract feeding companies and both national and regional foodservice distributors. Our Retail customers are comprised of primarily large national grocery retailers and warehouse clubs. Our Manufacturing customers are comprised of large branded manufacturers of retail consumer packaged goods. The customers from these channels are attracted to working with Cargill because of our demonstrated leadership in delivering innovative products, integrity, operational excellence, food safety and risk management.


Marketing Manager will be responsible building a program and product portfolio through deep channel, customer, and consumer knowledge to create sustainable profitable growth. 

Key responsibilities will be to lead key initiatives to enable product line strategy including leading marketing strategy development, identifying and initiating new product opportunities, developing a brand portfolio and communication plans, guiding product positioning, assessing product portfolio needs, developing sales activation strategies, and measuring marketing performance. Collaborate across product line teams to ensure execution of product line strategy. 


25% Marketing Strategy and Planning, Value Proposition Development
Create marketing strategies for product portfolio aligned with the Channel strategy and customer segmentation.  Create winning value propositions for new products, create marketing plans and implement launch plans. Accountable for maximizing the value proposition and for driving portfolio growth through marketing strategies and effective customer segmentation.  

25% Innovation and New Product Development
Provide strategic marketing to identify growth opportunities and a path to get there through concepts, business case development and commercialization plans.  Work closely with R&D and Insights to understand and identify opportunities, both consumer and customer and create a pipeline of market based innovation concepts.  Serve as the marketing lead for new product charters, project teams and for building the business case for market driven innovation projects. Collaborate with Insights to develop a market research strategy and plan that enables Sales support and customer activation.

25% Program Portfolio and Communications Strategy
Build out the Channel strategy, both creating new brands and expanding existing brand penetration.  Develop a holistic, multi-brand marketing plan that secures market positioning and brand awareness within key markets and customer segments that supports the brand strategy.

15% Customer and Channel Focus
Support customer segmentation and Sales coverage with selling tools and support materials.  Active engagement with Cargill sales team to support growth opportunities, provide tailored marketing presentations, develop sales activation tools, and address customer specific marketing needs.  

10% Team Leadership
Coach and develop talent across the Retail and Protein Ingredient Marketing team.  Responsible for developing business leaders and instilling a strong commercial, results driven mindset.  Help to build an ‘outside in’ culture.  Develop marketing capabilities and establish a talent pipeline for the Protein Group.
