Production Group Lead V - 2nd Shift

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reports directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager, supports manufacturing employees, working in a team structure for heart valve assembly, to meet quality production requirements within a class 7 clean room environment or class 8 Performs various other tasks according to training and department needs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduling and Administration
  • Coordinates and supports manufacturing assembler teams and material handlers with start-up, inventory needs and controls while ensuring appropriate number of team members are in place.
  • Assists Supervisor with weekly and monthly production planning.
  • Works with Supervisor to make adjustments to team structures to cover for absenteeism
  • Ability to run manufacturing floor, for periods of time, when Supervisor is out.
    Performance Management/Coaching
  • Performs small group activities, such as Break and Learns, to ensure quality training opportunities for the manufacturing teams.
  • Role models desired behavior on the manufacturing floor such as open communication, collaboration with peers, adherence to company/department policies and any applicable corporate initiatives.
  • Provides feedback to Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager on Manufacturing Associates performance. Coaches and mentors manufacturing assemblers.

    Quality/Process Improvement
  • Performs MPA as required
  • Assists manufacturing supervisor to ensure completion of production schedules for volume and mix, while achieving efficiencies at equal to or better than standard.
  • Enforce company's policy and procedures on maintenance of personnel hygiene and CEA cleanliness to ensure product safety.
  • Comply with company's policy and procedures on maintenance of personnel hygiene and CEA cleanliness to ensure product safety.
  • Ensures quality, safety practices and product adherence to specifications according to GMP, ISO, EHS requirements and Medtronic, Inc. Code of Ethics.
  • Leads material handlers to utilize materials and supplies effectively, and improve yields to reduce costs.
  • Produces, inspects and sometimes performs product/ manufacturing processes as required.
  • Monitors and chart the team progress to quality, standard hours and yields.
  • Coordinates activities with support departments, Maintenance and Engineering as required.
  • Ensures all inventories, record keeping and traceability documents are accurate and correct.
  • Leads and performs process and 5's audits and NCMR write-ups.
  • Keeps current on all required training.
  • Follows company/department policies and guidelines, including but not limited to, clean room adherence, attendance and safety policies and ensure all near misses are reported in a timely manner.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts
  • Apply/Lead problem solving utilizing the A3/12 MAIC process
    Interpersonal/Communication
  • Facilitates team meetings to create a forum for open communication, problem solving and goal setting to achieve department and company objectives.
  • May communicate and update manufacturing supervisors and Group Leads between first and second shift
  • Exhibits a proactive, take initiative attitude to provide positive impact on department and Medtronic, Inc. as a whole.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required Education:
    High School Diploma or GED
    Required Years of Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive Medical Device Manufacturing experience
  • 2+ years of leading teams
    Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • 0+ Years production assembly experience in a medical device or regulatory
  • Understanding of GMP / ISO
  • Ability to lead a small teams and apply common sense, personal integrity and understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Business system)
  • Proven leadership abilities in a team environment, ability to take initiative, model desired behaviors and follow through under minimal supervision
  • Willingness to be flexible and open minded to new processes or changes in direction, strong desire for continuous learning

    DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience within a team environment, desire for collaboration in order to problem solve and achieve business objectives
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to take initiative, model desired behaviors especially under minimal supervision
  • Ability to interface with an auditor
  • 0+ years in production assembly experience in a medical device or regulatory environment.
  • 7+ years of tissue valve assembly with 2+ years' experience leading teams in a medical device or regulatory manufacturing environment

  • The employee is also required to interact with a computer, and communicate with peers and co-workers.
