Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Contribute to the product development by designing, developing, and implementing test methods and equipment to conduct tests on materials, components, and devices to meet development and regulatory requirements. Works under the general supervision of a more experienced engineer or engineering manager.
Contribute to design of new heart valve concepts utilizing systematic engineering methods, physical/computational modeling, and data analysis.
Develop verification and validation testing, and perform analysis to evaluate designs for short and long term performance and reliability.
Develop and design test fixtures, measurement techniques, and equipment consistent with Draft standards and in accordance with ASTM and FDA requirements.
Design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment.
Compile and analyze data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures or new testing requirements.
Maintain technical knowledge current with advancing technology related to cardiovascular valve repair/replacement products and associated accessories by engaging in continuing education programs in selected disciplines and in new fields of engineering and/or project management.
Work under general supervision. Follow established procedures.
Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
Organize, prepare and present technical information material in a clear, effective, and skillful manner to immediate management, project leaders, and other professionals using high-quality drawings and prototypes.
Interact professionally with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the section or group. Occasionally interact with inter-organizational contacts. Comply with applicable corporate and departmental policies.
Proactively manage deliverables and provide regular updates to professional staff, project, and functional management.
Perform required training and certifications to demonstrate compliance with applicable divisional and corporate policies in accordance with individual training matrix.
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME
B.S. in relevant engineering field, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Materials Science, with 2+years of experience in either implantable medical devices or materials testing and characterization.
M.S. in relevant engineering field, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Materials Science, with 0+ years of experience in either implantable medical devices or materials testing and characterization.
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Knowledge and experience in engineering mechanics, mechanical design, and structure and properties of materials.
Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
Hands on experience with laboratory testing methods and fluid flow measurements.
A dynamic team player who can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.
PC experience (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.).
Familiar with basic lab equipment.
A good communicator and fluent in English, both in writing and speaking.
