This position has the responsibility and authority to drive, create and deliver training for global field service employees, and hospital Bio-Med customers. This individual will be responsible for creating and delivering the course curriculum for Imaging and Navigation product/technology education to enable both employees and customers with the technical knowledge on the safe and effective use, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of our O-Arm imaging and navigation products.

RTG (Restorative Therapies Group) Overview

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Instructional Design & Project Management

  • Collaborate with a cross functional groups (Product Marketing, Sales, Services, Legal, Quality, and Regulatory) to create technical training programs, curricula, course materials and measurements that support business unit strategies and are compliant with regulatory, quality systems, and Business Conduct Standards.

  • Ensure timely updates to the course curricula to reflect changes in product offerings and market demands.

  • Drive innovative training methods including on-line modules and video tutorials, using SABA as central tracking repository, using salesforce.com as e-distribution for content.

  • Prepare Instructor Guides and train-the-trainer program on new/revised curricula and materials, on a global basis.

  • Stay abreast of training and development industry research, (e.g. learning theory, motivation theory), and new methods and techniques.

  • Work with administrative staff to develop agendas, certificates, tests and to schedule requests to attend training courses.

  • Demonstrate training effectiveness through systematic program evaluation and continuous improvement strategy.

  • Provide timely evaluation and feedback to trainees and their managers/supervisors.

  • Partner with Field Service Engineers (including job shadow) and Factory to understand manufacturing process to develop and maintain technical knowledge, system intricacies and troubleshooting skills.

  • Coordinate continuous training opportunities for global Field service team. Duties may include review of newly released/updated repair procedures, direct vendor training opportunities, or troubleshooting skills building.

  • Technical Subject Matter Expert for current O-Arm and Navigation platform as well as future platforms and interfaces.

  • Technical Subject Matter Expert on the use of all O-Arm test equipment and the performance of calibration processes.

  • Technical Subject Matter Expert on O-Arm and Navigation installation and planned maintenance procedures.

  • Provide feedback from trainings into new and sustaining projects as appropriate.

    Training Services Delivery

  • Conduct Level 2, Level 3 and Shared Service O-Arm training courses in varied locations as needed.

  • Create, implement, and deliver global technical service training course specific for the navigation platform family (Stealth Station S8, S7, i7, Fusion, AxiEM, etc.)

  • Manage course preparations and facility set up as needed.

  • Conduct training for new product introductions and/or software releases.

  • Ensure proper training attendance is documented and updated in proper locations per procedure.

  • Interact in a professional manner with all course participants in both classroom and social situations.

  • Maintains and demonstrates a high level of technical knowledge of current imaging and navigation maintenance, repair and troubleshooting procedures. Uses this knowledge to better present course content and answer technical questions of course participants.

  • Conduct train-the-trainer programs for Services educational course offerings.

  • Retain a comprehensive understanding and clinical knowledge of the Neurosurgery technology.

    General

  • Exhibit strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and time management.

  • Be flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.

  • The individual filling this role will be expected to obtain any ongoing education necessary to maintain a cutting edge education and training curriculum.

  • The successful candidate will have significant training credentials and/or deep technical experience with Neurosurgery imaging and navigation products.

  • Proficient in the use of PC software applications including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As well as with Adobe Frame Maker.

  • Adept with the use of basic hand tools and mechanical and electronic devices.

  • Ensures all activities are in compliance with Quality System requirements.

  • Obtain and maintain Instructor Certification (and any other professional licensure)

  • May be asked to assist in the technical support for users of intra-operative imaging system. This may include phone support for users and/or technical staff.

  • All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.

  • Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.

  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Travel requirement: 25-50%

    MUST HAVE

    IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

    EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Associates Degree in Education, Scientific or Technical Field.

    YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

  • 9+ years of experience with an Associates Degree.

  • 7+ years of experience with a Bacherlor's Degree.

  • 5+ years of experience with a Master's Degree.

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Familiarity with most commonly used test equipment (i.e.: power supplies, DVM's, signal generators, flow meters, etc).

  • Ability to read and understand schematics and engineering drawings.

  • Familiar with the FDA 21 CFR, CGMP for Medical devices.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner, are necessary to accomplish this task.

  • Responsive problem solver and action oriented.

  • Ability to work under general supervision with a high degree of technical and organizational competence.

  • Ability to function well under pressure and expend effort to meet schedules and deadlines.

  • Regional as well as international trainings will be necessary on an adhoc basis.

  • Direct field and factory hands-on experience will be provided towards technical knowledge development.

  • Travel across US and outside of US is required.

    NICE TO HAVE

  • Advanced education in Electrical Engineering or Scientific discipline or similar related field.

  • Biomedical Engineering background or equivalent.

  • 2 years' experience with medical devices.

  • Mechanical, electrical, and Windows based computer experience providing technical support & services. Including equipment and application support.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Systems are primarily used in the operating room, so healthcare/surgical setting experience.

  • Experience with x-ray systems particularly mobile fluoroscopy or CT systems.

  • Familiarity with FDA product requirements and state regulations.

  • Experience with robotics or motion control helpful.

  • Certification as an x-ray service provider.

  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and radiation safety.
