HR Generalist

Provides professional advice and consultation to management regarding employee relations, equal employment opportunity, selection, policy development and enforcement, pay practices, performance management, and compliance and separations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Confers with management and supervisors to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills
  • Partners with Recruiting to ensure timely post hire processing of candidates
  • Conducts new employee orientation; maintains personnel records and forms
  • Acts as first point of contact for employment related questions from assigned customer group
  • Ensuring timely communication of benefits program and enrollment requirements associated with each
  • Partners with HS&E and operations leadership on workers' compensation processes, governmental rules, regulations, and procedures, and need for compliance
  • Assists in investigation and resolution of employee concerns and grievances; coordinates processes of responding to complaints
  • Accurately and timely processing of new hires and leavers to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
  • Acts as drug and alcohol coordinator for assigned customer group
  • May prepare payroll in absence of assigned Payroll Representative
  • Maintains knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations associated with assigned customer group
  • Partners with operations leadership to ensure performance evaluation programs are consistently completed


Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to write and compose effective correspondence.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years' relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, supervisors, and employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must maintain a valid Driver's License. Must maintain all federal and State authorization/clearance as required for the Stations to which assigned.
