Business Development Manager - High Rise Residential Space

Overall Job Objective:  To influence and develop plumbing, appliance, and lighting specifications with owners, developers and designers in the high rise residential space.  The person will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with this target audience.  These relationships will be used to leverage Ferguson’s position in the market and increase revenue through specification.
  • Develop, sell and achieve sales plan for the high rise residential space.
  • Research and analysis of business opportunities, consistent with the organization's long range and strategic plans.
  • Direct the planning and preparation of business proposals, and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Oversee the development of key projects and is accountable for the successful closure of business deals.
  • Responsible for the overall development, implementation and progress of strategic business targets.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of principles and concepts.
  • Develop new processes to meet project needs, and for designing projects to suit the financial and operating criteria of a project.
  • Prepare documents and materials (for example, reports, presentations, information packages) for meetings and negotiations with potential clients and business partners so that the information provided is accurate and appropriate for external distribution.
  • Maintain contact with the key decision makers internally and externally.
  • May assist with special analysis in areas such as operational effectiveness, market penetration and profitability.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and represent associate concerns, policies and guidelines to the management team.
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in specifications, building products, or related role
  • Previous experience selling to residential and commercial builders desired, preferably with the mix of sales experience in plumbing, appliance and lighting.
  • Familiar with architectural specifications, construction design elements and able to confidently make technical presentations and project recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of ability to excel in attaining maximum sales results through successful interaction with established customers and the development of new prospects.
  • Requires strong negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • High energy and a self-starter.
  • Good business acumen and high integrity.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to groups.
  • Ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams.
  • Ability to efficiently operate computers, tablets and mobile devices.
  • Ability to effectively utilize FEI's customer relationship management system.
