We need a mechanical engineer (EIT/PE Preferred) that has at least 2 years experience performing pipe stress analysis utilizing CAESAR II.  Basic B31.3 and ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 code understanding is required. Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) utilizing NozzlePro is a plus. Five years experience in oil and gas industry preferred. Other mechanical engineering responsibilities include pipe specifications, static and rotating equipment specifications, vendor coordination and equipment selection, coordination with piping design group (isometric checking, layout coordination, etc.), and control document generation/development (line list, P&IDs, etc.).


  • Will be assigned projects and be responsible for the technical integrity of the deliverables and activities for assigned projects.  
  • Will establish and maintain professional relationships with vendors, customers and other company’s personnel as required by the projects.
  • Will work with other engineering and technical personnel to ensure overall project goals are met.

Specific Tasks:

  • Provide oversight, expertise and guidance to less experienced individuals.
  • Manage scope for assigned projects, implementing professional engineering requirements including technical integrity, safety in design, and sustainable design where applicable.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer service and ability to assist others in applying knowledge and understanding in solving functional problems within area if expertise.
  • Perform discipline and interdisciplinary reviews, troubleshooting, HAZOP, HAZIDs, audits, FAT, model and constructability reviews.
  • Prepare and oversee the production of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, datasheets, calculations and reports.
  • Proactively address and recommend solutions to any discrepancies between our client and its customer’s requirements or other business problems uncovered during the course of performing assignments, and ensure sharing and implementation of standards, guidelines and lessons learned.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
  • Provide assistance and advice during procurement, contracting, construction and commissioning activities to ensure project deliverables meet project requirements on time and within budget. 
  • Write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders.
  • Assume technical authority and direction to piping and static and rotating mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical oversight to vendors on static and rotating equipment activities during the detailed engineering and construction phase of the project.
  • Interact with QA/QC team to ensure all project static and rotating equipment is fabrication and tested to project requirements.
  • Provide support on RFI (Request For information) / NCR (Non-Compliance Reports) / MR (material requisition) for engineering issues relating to piping, static and rotating mechanical systems.

Qualifications/ Education/ Experience/ Skills:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 8 years’ experience.
  • Must possess working knowledge of mechanical engineering and design processes as found in the oil and gas industry, and possess highly effective technical and practical engineering skills in the discipline, and consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work.
  • A PE license is preferred.
  • Must be able to apply strong organizational skills as well effectively communicate in English.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity, and work effectively in small to large multi-disciplinary teams, and share and transfer knowledge within teams.
  • Will be sound in the engineering designs, selection and sizing of rotating and static equipment.
  • Must be a proficient user of engineering software applications and demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must possess sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is important as well as the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
  • An understanding of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements is also required.
