Responsible for the electrical design, development, testing, and implementation on an engineering project. Assists team in design and maintenance of plans, schematics, and wire running lists. Maintains good working relationships with clients, staff, and outside contractors. Partners with team members and ensures that established goals and deadlines are met. Ensures compliance with safety regulations and technical requirements. Actively communicates with Engineering Manager and across business units on status of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze design proposals, specifications, and requirements.
  • Organize and oversee test programs to validate design.
  • Troubleshoots electrical systems as required.
  • Reviews procurement costs ensuring adherence to budgets and timetables.
  • Evaluates supplier's proposals and related documentation.
  • Prepares engineering, design, and assembly documents.
  • Prepares correspondences to customer under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Ensures that safety regulations and requirements are met.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with area staff and management.

  • Interacts with engineering team to assess functions and compliance to system specifications.
  • Tracks and resolves problems promptly and effectively.
  • Obtains and conveys information as needed.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with customers, suppliers, and outside contacts.

  • Interprets and implements customer needs.
  • Projects and maintains the Company's professional reputation.

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Attends meetings and professional conferences as required.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Able to prioritize projects.
  • Excellent understanding of Company operations and needs.
  • Thorough understanding of Electrical Engineering for digital electronics, auxiliary power systems, and control systems. Experience with railroad applications a plus.
  • Knowledge of IEEE-compliant circuit diagram design.
  • Knowledge of IEEE and NEC code requirements.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, and Vault a plus.
  • Knowledge of NI LabView orSignalExpress a plus.

  • Limited Travel.
