Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Take the lead role in developing Safety Awareness within company.
  • Responsible for working with the Operations Manager to ensure that the company facilities are in compliance with all local, federal and state laws related to safety and OHSA requirements.
  • Ensure employees understand and comply with safety precautions and communicate to management when potential corrective action may be necessary.

Preventative Measures:

  • Lead safety committee to complete monthly safety and housekeeping audits.
  • Lead the emergency response team and ensure everyone is properly trained.
  • Work with outside vendors to maintain compliance with all required written safety programs.
  • Schedule all monthly training based on annual training schedule.
  • Perform and document Job Safety Analyses (JSA) to identify and eliminate or control workplace hazards.
  • Create and document General Process Sequence (GPS) videos for training purposes as needed.
  • Train new employees on safety procedures and regulations in their work areas.

Accident Response Measures:

  • Work with managers to complete all accident reports to be filed with the Workers’ Compensation carrier in a timely fashion.
  • Assist Human Resources when needed with filing all Workers’ Compensation claims and managing the claim to ensure a smooth and safe return to work for the injured employee.
  • Investigate and document all accidents and review with Management. Document all accidents, incidents and near misses in company Incident Management (WIM) system.
  • Develop Corrective Actions and assist in implementing them with Dept. Mgrs and Supervisors.
  • Assign, schedule and perform post-accident training.

Compliance Measures:

  • Work with the Operations team to maintain applicable local, state and federal permits and associated reports.
  • Maintain OHSA logs for all GW locations. Post OSHA 300A forms as required by law.
  • Complete all other mandated safety reporting in a timely manner.
  • Maintain SDS database in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Other Duties:

  • Other duties will be assigned as the need arises.
  • Priorities will be established in tandem with the Operations Manager.

Necessary Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with minimum of 4 years experience in the safety field or 5+ years of safety job related experience in manufacturing or related field perferred.
  • Must be comfortable training large groups and leading project teams.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time on the shop floor.
  • Must be able to do minimal climbing, lifting  bending, standing, reaching, lifting.
  • Office and manufacturing environment. 
  • May involve occasional exposure to cold and hot temperatures, humidity, dust, vapors, fumes, vibration and other loud noises from the manufacturing plant.
