With minimal supervision operates manufacturing equipment such as lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make or repair mechanical equipment such as engine motors, pneumatic tools, production equipment as well as making or reworking dies and tooling for headers and secondary equipment. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position.


  • Operate equipment with limited supervision to meet the necessary quality and productivity requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Read most manufacturing and tooling prints and select and prepare necessary tools to meet print tolerances.
  • Plan and fabricate parts and tools.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Work with carbi-die and harden tool steel to make or repair dies.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in device.
  • Lubricate and clean parts and sharpen tools.
  • Work with diamond tools.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems on dies.
  • Utilize most tool room inspection equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area.
  • Follows company safety guidelines.
  • Performs preventative maintenance when required.
  • Trains less experienced employees.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Required Hs Diploma/GED OR Relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a machinist or machine rebuilder.
  • Strong math, blueprint reading and analytical skills.
  • Proficient use of machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in mechanics, metal properties layout and machining procedures.
  • Must have strong mechanical knowledge, experience and troubleshooting skills.
  • Fluent in English (both strong verbal and written communication skills).

Preferred Skills & Abilities:

  • Heading or tooling experience.

Tools Used:

  • Most tool room equipment (lathes, bench grinders, tool bit grinders, reamer grinders, and cutoff saws.
  • Most inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, comparators, gage pins, bore gauges and indicators.
