Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under direct supervision participates in the design of new products and the sustaining and enhancement of existing products.
  • Based on schematics, engineering sketches or assemblies, builds and troubleshoots engineering prototypes to clearly defined specifications or instructions.
  • Perform testing of new analog, digital, and power circuits which includes electrical hook-ups, equipment monitoring, device set-up, data downloads, and file conversions; build breadboards and perform functional testing; debug electronic circuits while providing engineers with appropriate feedback. 
  • Monitors and records data for test reports.
  • Implement design verification test and fixture validation protocols and record data.
  • Promptly reports to supervisor and takes appropriate actions to correct problems, including circuit diagrams, component usage and test results, etc.
  • Builds test fixtures, and other accessories as required supporting engineering activities. 
  • Assembles and tests prototypes. 
  • Maintains engineering lab in an orderly fashion, follows related safety procedures.
  • Submits requests to supervisor regarding calibration requirements of various instruments, material requisitions, etc.
  • Operates all engineering test equipment and instruments.
  • Assist with production testing and repairs as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Training in electronic theory such as one would receive at a technical trade school or in an Associate degree program.
  • At least 1 year experience testing and troubleshooting electronic circuitry down to the component level.
  • Experience in working in various areas of a test department supporting manufactured electronic products.
  • Pass SMT solder inspection.

Physical Demands:

  • Typical physical effort includes frequent lifting or moving of light to moderately weighted materials.
  • The use of fine motor skills in the hands to examine, repair, disassemble and reassemble products.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time performing repetitive technician tasks
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in an engineering R&D environment.
  • Work is primarily done at one workstation, but may require shifting to other work stations as needs require.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
