Full-time IN THE SUMMER ON CALL IN THE WINTER
Wage: $14.00-$20.00/hr DOE
Work Hours: 35-45 hours per week. May be asked to begin work 15-30 minutes early and stay 15- 30 minutes late for work planning sessions. When not busy with care taking will work helping with other projects. Will work on Snow Removal Crew during winter months (December to March, approx.) with variable on-call hours, starting early (4:00-7:00 am) and work until job is done.
Summary: care taking an estate. you will be responsible for getting this work done and be in charge of other Supervisors sent to assist on site. When there is no Ranch work to be done, you will work on other crews, under the supervision of that crews Supervisor. You will still have the authority and responsibilities set forth herein as a Supervisor.
The caretaking Supervisor will accomplish the following duties as well as plan, organize, direct, or coordinate workers to help accomplish these duties. Some of the activities you will be engaged in and in charge of are: maintenance of the grounds, buildings, and equipment, planting and maintaining ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns, applying fertilizers and other chemicals, according to contract specifications, mowing, weed eating, spring and fall cleanup, and seasonal changes.
May also coordinate activities of workers engaged in following a landscape design plan. Work may involve reviewing contracts to ascertain service, machine, and work force
requirements; material, and price ranges; and preparing estimates according to labor, material, and machine costs. Responsible for products and supplies needed on job site, such as fuel, parts, tools, landscaping items such as fertilizer, trees, dirt and/or mulch.
Meet with outside contractors for bids and services.
Conduct regular employee evaluations, employee warning
notices, teach new employees Basic Operating Procedures (BOP).
Plan, organize, direct, or coordinate activities of workers engaged in landscaping or grounds
keeping activities, such as planting and maintaining ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns,
and applying fertilizers and other chemicals, according to contract specifications. May also coordinate activities of workers engaged in following a landscape design plan. Work may involve reviewing contracts to ascertain service, machine, and work force requirements; material, and price ranges; and preparing estimates according to labor, material, and machine costs.
Schedule work crews depending on work priorities, crew and equipment availability, and weather conditions. Create and complete monthly to do lists.
May advise customers on tree and plant care. May assist in developing time budgets. Keep and
eye on plants, trees, and shrubs for insect infestations.
Seasonal Maintenance: maintain irrigation systems and change time settings according to heat and dry areas weekly..
Plant and maintain vegetation through activities such as mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing,
and pruning. Dig holes, plant flowers, trees and shrubs, seed new lawns. Care for natural turf
fields. Prune trees and shrubs, trim back flowers and weed flowerbeds. Inspect trees and plants
for disease. Mix and apply herbicides, fertilizers, and other chemicals. Haul yard debris away using trucks.
Operate power equipment such as lawnmower, weed-eater, blower and hedge trimmer, snowplow, snow blower, sander, dump truck, and tractor with various attachments.
Monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and
schedules are maintained. Oversee and meet with all outside services at appointed times.
Inventory supplies of tools, equipment, and materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are
available and items are in usable condition.
Confer with other Supervisors and the Manager to coordinate work activities with those of other departments or units.
Establish a "Maintenance Log" for equipment. Maintain Equipment: clean, maintain and service
machinery, hand tools and power equipment.
Maintain outdoor recreation equipment for seasonal changes: equipment out and ready or stored
properly for the season. (i.e.: Watercraft detailed and launched, vehicles maintained).
Minor Duties: On call for security when manager is out of town and respond 24/7. Help in overseeing construction projects.
Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Instructing: Teaching others how to do something and follow through periodically to make sure it is correct.

Experience: One full season Comercial lawn and landscape maintenance
Education: High School diploma or general education degree (GED);
Mathematical Skills: Basic skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units
of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio,
Supervisory Responsibilities (if any): Oversee and manage 1-10 people on site, taking advantage of each employee's qualities and capabilities.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Montana Drivers License
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Licensed pesticide applicator preferred
