  • Reporting to the Facilities Electrical Power Department Head, incumbent will:
  • Work with project engineers or project managers to develop outage plans. 
  • Typical outage plan shall include coordinating outage notices with building managers, coordinating work with other shop trades, developing electrical work plans, developing energy isolation plans, developing switching orders, directing work in the field, and developing outage scripts.
  • Propose solutions to the issues related to the system consolidation
  • Create and modify single line diagrams and other electrical documentation.


  • Minimum 10 years of experience as operations electrician in large and complex commercial, industrial or research facility.
  • Experience in working as electrician in installation or operations of substation distribution equipment including protection relays, medium voltage switchgear, backup DC power system (battery bank with battery charger), switchgear control systems, and power transformers.
  • Knowledge of power distribution equipment such as medium voltage cabling, low voltage switchgear, SF6 switchgear, motor control centers, VFDs, distribution panels, and lighting panels. 
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and other pertinent codes and electrical standards (IEEE, IEC, NETA, NEMA, OSHA).
  • Trained in Lockout/Tagout with experience in implementing in large industrial facilities.
  • Established excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare presentations and present reports.
  • Demonstrated competency in computer operation including Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook, and etc.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Possess a valid CA driver's license.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of work practices in National Labs.
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with specialty of Electrical Power Distribution.
