Nurse Practitioner (fly in/out FP/Urgent Care)
Spot On Recruiting, Inc., Fargo ND
Physician owned Family Medicine clinic in North Dakota. Population is 60K, catchment area is 250K. They do general FP work. The group partners with several critical access hospitals throughout the state, providing them clinic/hospital/ER care. These are lower volume hospitals. They provide this care in shifts of 24 hours or longer. This program currently has 6 providers. Some are full-time and some part-time. You can do 3-10 days in-a-row and get paid on an hourly rate. You can literally work one week a month and get a full salary for that. An NP/PA can make 10K for a week' s work and then have the next 3 weeks off. Physicians can make up to 15K for a week' s work. These MD/DO/NP/PA providers can be board-certified family physicians, internal medicine physicians or experienced family nurse practitioners or physician assistants. All providers must be comfortable with the general family practice clinic work, hospital admission and rounding work in low-volume critical access hospitals and low-volume ER work including vocational trauma patients. These providers can live in-state or out-of-state. Agreements can be full-time, part-time or PRN. A full-time position would include a minimum of seven 24-hour shifts every month. Full-time benefits are offered including health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, 401 (k), and malpractice/liability insurance, for full-time work. No benefits for part-time or PRN work. This work is done typically in 24 hour shift blocks. The length of shifts is usually 48 to 96 hours. This allows the provider to accumulate a lot of hours in a short period of time and thereby have plenty of time free during the month. A typical schedule for a full-time outreach employee would be something like Monday through Thursday the first week of the month and then completely off until the third week of the month when they would work Friday through Sunday. All the other days of the month are off. This is just an example. The scheduling can be done in a variety of different ways. Salary for the outreach program is based on an hourly rate. Moving and sign-on bonuses are available depending upon contract length. Census is 10-15 patients max with 2-5 patient intakes for hospital. NP/PA salary for full-time outreach work is $74 per hour. Signing and moving bonuses are possible but individualized based on length of contract.
