HR & Organizational Development Manager

A Freight Forwarder in the North Houston area is seeking an experienced HR & Organizational Development Manager to join their team! They will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic human capital and organizational development policies and procedures.

Compensation: $65,000-95,000 DOE

Location: North Houston


  • Planning, organizing, and controlling the activities and actions of the HR department to align with the business strategy of the company
  • Supporting the President in executing group strategic goals, objectives and plans, and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team
  • Contributing to the development of HR department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Assist leadership with strategic and operational projects to address business challenges
  • Providing change management expertise in support of organizational change projects
  • Review and propose changes to current organizational design to reduce cost and increase business profitability
  • Maintain human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records
  • Maintaining company directory and other organizational charts
  • Developing, analyzing and updating the company's evaluation program
  • Developing, revising, and recommending personnel policies and procedures
  • Maintaining and revising the company's handbook on policies and procedures
  • Hiring, training, motivating, coaching, reviewing and retaining high performing employees
  • Creating and revising job descriptions
  • Overseeing recruitment efforts for all personnel, including writing and placing job ads
  • Conducting new employee orientations and employee relations counselling
  • Overseeing exit interviews
  • Development of succession plan strategies
  • Mentoring and developing emerging leaders
  • Implementing and revising a company’s compensation program and conducting annual salary surveys
  • Performing benefits administration
  • Assisting departments with developing action plans to improve employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings
  • Supporting, fostering and driving compliance with PFS QHSE, Compliance & Ethics programs, initiatives and requirements.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field required
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification required; SPHR / SHRM-SCP Preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with an Executive Leadership team, including Board of Directors
  • High attention to detail and strong planning and organizing skills
  • Strong influencing and networking skills with key stakeholders at all levels up to Director / Board level managing complex relationships
  • Ability to design and implement strategy to articulate priorities, direction and focus
