Company and Product Overview:
A federally funded research and development center and NASA field space located in Pasadena, CA. Managed by the nearby California Institute of Technology (Caltech) for NASA. The laboratory's primary function is the construction and operation of planetary robotic spacecraft, though it also conducts Earth-orbit and astronomy missions. It is also responsible for operating NASA's Deep Space Network.
Role Details: Product Manager
The role will focus on interfacing with a team in order to gather technical requirements (think within a BA/BSA capacity) and document requirements so that they can be used in order to develop out particular specs on a given project. This role will also work closely with the stakeholders throughout the duration of the project (think within a Project Management capacity); furthermore, this role will work closely with the engineering and systems team throughout the development of a project (think within a Product Management capacity). The role will work on a variety of projects both internal and external to JPL (i.e. they are currently working on an internal mobile app to be used by employees in order to view in real time open parking spaces within their site garage(s)).
Requirements: Exception verbal and written communication skills Strong experience within a Business Analyst or Business System’s analyst role (specific focal point here is requirements gathering) Technical background- Need to be able to interface with engineering and/or systems engineering teams in order to execute on the above BA bullet point (A degree in CS or Systems engineering is a plus, or experience as a developer or systems engineer earlier in your career is not a mush have but a plus) Ability to create strong technical documentation based on gathered requirements Experience working on both software and hardware products is a plus PMP Certification is a plus Agile/Scrum Experience or a CSM Certification is a plus Interest in the research and aerospace industries!
Nice To Have: Robust use of JIRA, having a CSM Certification and strong professional experience with the methodology, strong technical experience (i.e. being either a hands on development lead or systems engineer), strong data base knowledge, ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals. Any experience automating workflow process’ would be a plus! Generally positive personality and a get it done attitude. They have a structured environment but are spread thin and assistance on the current workload.
Compensation 70hr pay (we have some flexibility here)1-Year CT can extend. The last person we placed here has now been on contract for two years.Our standard CT benefits, 10-days PTO, 11 Paid Holidays, opportunity to work 1-day remote once they are ramped up in the role, and they also work a 9/80 schedule.
