1st Shift

The Contract Instrument CAD Designer is responsible for providing instrumentation CAD and related design to support for the instrumentation scope of work of a project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support instrument & control project leads by providing instrument design and CAD proficiency.
  • Generate/modify CAD drawings to complete the project instrument construction package including interconnections, schematics, location plans and loop sheets.
  • Create other project deliverables such as Instrument cable schedules and I/O lists.
  • Ensure consistency of all symbology and technical information between drawing types during the project design.
  • Follow drawing file management procedures and conventions.
  • Follow plant engineering and design practices. Support maintenance and development of Instrument Design Standards and other related engineering standards.
  • Assign/create instrumentation tags and specifications as requested.
  • Support the completion of instrumentation cost estimates as requested
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members.
  • Follow and maintain plant engineering and design practices
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience:
  • AutoCAD proficiency creating and modifying instrumentation drawings.
  • Minimum 5 years of process instrumentation and control system experience
  • Experience with industrial process instrumentation such as; pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical measurements and automated valves
  • Working knowledge of ISA (International Society for Automation) terminology and symbolism
  • Ability to multi-task and work either independently or as part of a team

Considered A Plus:
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing plant
  • Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation - tagging and specification modules
  • Experience with the design of instrument fieldbus networks such as Foundation Fieldbus, AS-i bus, and DeviceNet
  • Awareness of OSHA, NFPA and other regulations with the ability to design to their standards where applicable
  • Experience with SAP EAM related modules

Working Conditions:
  • Typically, work is performed within an office environment. Some field work is required. In some of the production areas; noise levels in some areas require hearing protection.
  • Willing/able to work in plant (inclement weather) as required.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE.
