Position Description

The Health Services Director acts as educator, advocate, and steward for the health needs of Mary's Place guests and represents Mary's Place to other organizations, leading partnership discussions and advocating for guest health.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall clinical management of Health Services team in collaboration with the Health Services Administrative Director
  • Provide direct supervision of Health Services Clinical Team
  • Provide oversight of all clinical care delivered at Mary’s Place by both internal and external healthcare providers
  • Assist Administrative Director in recruiting, training, and supervising all volunteers amd medical providers
  • Provide leadership and direction for health services program development to meet the needs of our guests
  • Assist in grant writing and seeking health-related development opportunities
  • Develop relationships with hospitals, community health centers, and other community agencies to improve healthcare delivery and support of our guests
  • Provide crisis management and set appropriate limits as needed
  • Create and oversee emergency procedures
  • Maintain appropriate records, documentation, and statistics in collaboration with Administrative Director
  • Advocate for the health needs of our guests with outside healthcare providers
  • Act as clinical point of contact for outside healthcare institutions regarding shelter referrals and accommodations
  • Provide direct patient care for guests on-site as needed
  • Collaborate with Administrative Director to coordinate staff health education and promote healthy shelter environments
  • Collaborate with HR Director in advisory role to develop immunization policy/protocol for new employees
  • Collaborate with HR Director in advisory role for staff related health policies/protocol


Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Current WA State Medical license (MD/ARNP)
  • Experience in healthcare leadership
  • CPR certification
  • Experienced in problem-solving, conflict mediation, and crisis management
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries and maintain calm demeanor in a chaotic setting
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, flexible, possesses a positive attitude, and sense of humor
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Exhibits compassion and empathy and works well with parents and children from all ethnic, social, economic and sexual orientation backgrounds
  • Well versed in Trauma-Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing philosophies, and the ability to act as a resource for staff in the implementation of such philosophies
  • Mary’s Place will consider this as either a full- or part-time position depending on an applicant’s interest and preference. This position will interface with staff and guests during regular business (daytime shift) hours, as well as in the evenings and on weekends. Salary negotiable DOE.
