  • The successful candidate must be able to operate, install, diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain all types of power generation and industrial engine/rental equipment in a fast paced environment and must be able to multi-task.

The essential functions of this position include the following:
  • Independently and successfully diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain diesel and gas engines, air compressors, pumps and heaters
  • Reading schematics and diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical problems
  • Installation and commissioning of new units including generators, UPS, switchgear, automatic transfer switches and other related system products.  This could include first time start-up installations
  • Coordinating with other systems being installed such as multiple generator sets and paralleling switchgear to ensure all related equipment works together properly as a system
  • Understand electricity and electronics including AC and DC circuits along with basic power generation systems
  • Performing both minor and major repairs to the engine, generator or components
  • Utilize a laptop computer for information, time keeping and diagnostic purposes
  • Prepare all part requisitions and service reports accurately with sufficient detail for service and accounting needs in a timely manner
  • Provide accurate and detailed information to create repair estimates as required
  • Monitor expenses versus repair estimates and ensures that the office is aware of any cost overruns prior to job completion
  • Understand the customer' s needs and time constraints and completing scheduled repairs and service safely and within the time constraint identified while providing superior quality workmanship to meet and exceed the customer' s expectations
  • Cares for and maintains all company vehicles, machines, equipment and tooling and ensures co-workers are doing the same
  • Perform work in various working conditions
  • Maintains a set of tools required for optimum job performance
  • Maintains a positive attitude
  • Mentor other technicians
  • Work with other divisions/departments within the company as needed
  • Attend training sessions as required
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Work in the shop as needed

As a Field Mechanic you are required to work in an industrial environment which includes exposure to significant environmental conditions.

Physical requirements include:
  • Overall stamina
  • Sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing
  • Carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, listening, and speaking
  • Must have good motor coordination skills
  • Coordination of eyes, hands, and feet
  • Verbal intelligence and numerical intelligence
  • The workplace environmental conditions include subject to noise, heat, cold
  • Injury exposures, and atmospheric exposures
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

  • Basic computer skills and good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Previous experience with diesel and/or gas engines, generators, switchgear is a plus
  • Available to work rotating On Call as needed

Additional requirements include:
  • Must have a clean driving record and a current driver' s license
  • Must meet DOT regulatory & Cleveland Brothers requirements for operating company or related vehicles
  • Familiar with all DOT regulations and truck operations
  • Must sign all documentation to meet DOT regulations and company requirements
  • This is a safety sensitive position
